Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats

Scope :

  • This course is designed to meet the requirements of Rule VI/2, Section A‐VI/2 Paragraphs 5‐8 Table A‐VI/2‐2 of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, STCW 1978, as amended.

General objectives :

  • The participant must ensure training, attitude and ability to take charge of a fast rescue boat during and after launching as required in the Table A‐VI/2‐2 of the STCW as well as chapter VI, Section A‐VI/2‐2. Additionally participants must know how to use the fast rescue boat for rescue and recovery of victims at sea.

Prerequisites :

  • For admission to the sailors of the course must be medically fit and hold a certificate of proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than rescue boats in accordance with regulation VI/2, paragraph 1 of the STCW Convention 1978 as amended.
