Scope :

  • This course is designed to meet the requirements of Rule IV/2 Section A‐IV/2 Table A‐IV/2 of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, STCW / 78, as amended.

General objectives :

  • The participant having completed the course will be able to transmit and receive information using subsystems and GMDSS equipment and fulfilling the functional requirements of the GMDSS.

Prerequisites:

  • This course framework assumes little knowledge of the practice of maritime radio but a working knowledge of English as a Second Language. Basic computer skills are assumed in the course schedule is recommended. Additional training will be required for those who lack basic skills in using computers
